Shopify App & Web App
Brandmachine runs in two places: the web app at app.brandmachine.shop, and the Brandmachine app inside your Shopify Admin. Both can open the same account, with one library, one credit balance and one list of members.
Installing the Shopify App
When someone opens Brandmachine in Shopify Admin for the first time after installing it, the app asks whether this is a new account or whether your team already uses Brandmachine:
- Start a new account (button Start fresh): for teams new to Brandmachine. Your library, credits and settings start empty.
- Connect to our existing account (button Enter a code): your shop joins the account you already use in the web app, with the same library, credits and colleagues. You need a code from the web app, described below.
You can also enter your name on this screen. It's optional.
Until someone answers, nobody in the store can start generations.
Connecting a Shopify Store to Your Web Account
You need the Admin or Owner role in the web app for this. See Team Members & Roles.
- In the web app, open Settings → Connected stores and click Connect a Shopify store.
- The page shows a code (in the form
ABCD-EFGH) and how long it stays valid. A code works once and runs out after 15 minutes. - In Shopify Admin, open the Brandmachine app. On the welcome screen, choose Connect to our existing account, then Enter a code.
- Paste the code. The app shows which account it belongs to, with its number of members, credit balance and creation date, so you can check it's the right one.
- Click Connect.
The Connected stores page in the web app updates on its own once the store has joined.
Treat the code like a password: anyone who has it can join a store to your account. If it runs out before you use it, create a new one.
An account can have one Shopify store at the moment.
Shopify Staff and Web App Logins
Shopify staff who open the Brandmachine app in Shopify Admin become members of your account automatically. They don't need an invitation. Because Shopify doesn't share their name or email with Brandmachine, the member list shows them as Shopify staff member.
Signing in through Shopify doesn't create a login for the web app. To use the web app too, someone needs an invitation by email: in Settings → Members, an Admin or Owner fills in Invite a colleague. The invited person doesn't need a Shopify account and signs in at app.brandmachine.shop.
What Differs Between the Two
The account and its work are the same in both places. A few things depend on where you open it:

FAQs
We installed the Shopify app before connecting. Can we join the accounts now? Connecting is done on the welcome screen of a new install. If your store already started its own account, contact support@brandmachine.shop.
Can I disconnect a store? Not from the app. Contact support@brandmachine.shop.
Do my credits carry over when I connect? The store joins your web account and uses that account's credit balance.
